So Happy Together was designed to be used as a display basket, and received its name from the combination of materials used.  Made from a single Royal Palm sheath, organically spalted to a handsome distressed look, hand formed and stitched with Raffia Palm fiber (natural and dyed). The top trim is fiber from a Footstool Palm (see image). The fiber resembles Coconut Palm but it's much thicker and has beautiful undulating textures.  Now you understand why Shelley named this piece "So Happy Together", the combination of the two complimented and elevated each other.  The inside is flat black and the entire basket is completed with a hand rubbed polyurethane finish. The criss cross stitches remind us that even lovely things need a little help sometimes, just like our own defects make us unique and connect us with each other.

This basket could serve many different purposes, these being just a few: Stand alone art piece, rolled towels, plants or even a one of a kind waste basket!

Like all of Shelley's creations, this is a one of a kind piece that cannot be duplicated; it is literally a piece of Hawaiʻi Island.  Each sheath is sustainably harvested from natural fallen leaves from beautiful, giant palm trees (about 10 different varieties).  A wonderful way to remember your island experience or bring the warmth of the tropics into everyday life.  #takehawaiihome
