Sweet Lorraine in Blue gained its name from a wonderfully "sweet" lady (from London named Lorraine) who gifted Shelley the hand marbled paper you see on this piece.
Created from a natural colored Royal Palm sheath with a wood base and Raffia Palm fiber stitching. It is embellished with hand marbled paper (circa 1980) from a closed down paper conservancy department in a London museum. Giving new life to unused material is Shelley's passion. Finished with a hand rubbed polyurethane finish, this small vessel can be used for many purposes: outgoing or incoming mail, utensils, faux plants or add a few glass jars inside for real flowers or branches. It also works lovely as a stand alone / conversation piece. Check out the close up image to see the beautiful colors in this piece.
Like all of Shelley's creations, this is a one of a kind piece that cannot be duplicated; it is literally a piece of Hawaiʻi Island. Each sheath is sustainably harvested from natural fallen leaves from beautiful, giant palm trees (about 10 different varieties). A wonderful way to remember your island experience or bring the warmth of the tropics into everyday life. #takehawaiihome
